Effie A Miller, 90, died Saturday, July 24 2004 at Bacala Nursing Center
in Scottsburg IN. She was born July 31 1913 in Leatherwood KY to Willis & Clara
Abner, deceased. She was married to Eugene A Miller who died in l983. Mrs.
Miller was the retired owner of Wheel & Deal in Austin IN and attended New
Providence Baptist Church. Survivors: daughters, Polly Ann Niemeier of New
Albany IN & Betty Jean Taylor of Kingsland GA; brothers, Dr. Gardner H Abner of
Pompano Beach FL, Dr. Linton D Abner of Lakeworth FL & Elisha B Abner of North
Vernon IN; sister, Dr. Peggy Gottwalles of North Vernon IN; 4 grandchildren &
several great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers & 1
grandchild.
Visitation: 4-8pm, EST Monday, July 26 2004 and 1-2pm Tuesday at Stewart Funeral Home; Services: 2pm EST Tuesday July 27 2004 at Stewart Funeral Home with burial in New Providence Cemetery.
Dorothy Smith, 83, died Sunday, July 11 2004 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg IN. She was born October 6 1920 in Washington County IN to Willard M & Julia E Nicholson Dowling, deceased. She was married to Freddie Dale Smith who also preceded her in death on February 28 2002. Mrs. Smith was a retired employee at Scott County Courthouse and a homemaker. She was a member of the New Bethel Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Group, and the New Bethel Cemetery Association. Survivors: sisters, Ruth Nicholson, Scottsburg IN & Helen Wise, Nabb IN; nephews & caretakers, Joe Nicholson (Donna), Columbus IN & Mark Nicholson, Scottsburg IN along with several nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, a daughter, 3 sisters & 2 brothers.
Visitation: 4-8pm, Tuesday, July 13 2004 and after 9am Wednesday at Stewart Funeral Home. Services: 2pm, Wednesday, July 14 2004 at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Jobst officiating and burial in New Bethel Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to New Bethel Cemetery c/o Stewart Funeral Home.
