Billy Akers, 59, of Commiskey IN, died Friday, February 18 2005 at Louisville KY. He was born June 8 1945 in Jennings County IN to James E & Bessie Smith Akers. Billy was a member of Labor Local 741, Cement Masons Local 694, and attended House of Prayer in Austin. He also served in the US Navy and was retired as a cement finisher having owned his own business, Akers Concrete Construction. He is survived by sisters; Joyce Plessinger of Blocher IN, Clara Campbell of Crothersville IN, Wanda Grigsby of Orlando FL, Sherry Colwell of Scottsburg IN, Janita Pennington of North Vernon IN, Josie Sawyer of Crothersville IN, Debbie Ousley of Austin IN and brothers; James D Akers of Orlando FL, Charley Akers of Deputy IN, Paul Akers of Sand Springs OK, & Garry J Akers of Commiskey IN. He was preceded in death by his parents. Billy had requested Cremation.

Clell Howard Jr, 76, died February 14 2005 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville IN. He was born November 20 1928 in Lime Fork KY to Clell & Pearlie Miller Howard and was married to Debbie Smith Howard. Junior was a veteran of WWII Army Air Force; a member of Freedom Gospel Church in Lexington IN; lifetime member VFW in Charlestown; lifetime American Legion #234 Scottsburg; & Scott County Moose & Family Center. Survivors: wife, Debbie Howard of Scottsburg IN; step-daughters, Tammy Riley of Scottsburg, Debbie Miles, Lexington IN; Alisa Cox of Lexington; daughter Angie Runtz of Las Vegas NV; sons, Roger Clell Spencer of Cincinnati OH, Jamie Howard of Lawrenceburg IN, Kevin Howard of Scottsburg ; brother, Tom Eads of Scottsburg; sister, Laquada Humphrey of Scottsburg, Mary Ruth Thompson of Charlestown; 13 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. James Albert Cunningham, 78, died Sunday February 13 2005 at his residence in Scottsburg IN. He was born July 13 1926 in Jackson County IN to John H & Bertha Egan Cunningham. James was retired machine operator at International Harvester in Louisville KY, attended Christian Pilgrim Church in Austin, and served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Ruby Arnold Cunningham. Survivors: wife Ruby Cunningham of Scottsburg IN; sons: James Cunningham of Louisville KY, Steve Cunningham of Vancouver WA; Tom Cunningham of Scottsburg IN, Ryan McGee of Scottsburg IN; daughters; Lynda Ault of Shelburn IN, Rhonda Campbell, Henryville IN, Rebecca White, Scottsburg IN; brothers: Marshall Cunningham, Indianapolis IN, George Cunningham of Westport IN; 12 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. preceded in death by parents & 2 brothers.

Mrs. Carson was a former restaurant owner of Austin's Carson's Truckmens Haven; a cook at the old Redman's & Moore's Fiesta; and former QMA at Englishton Park. She held membership at Lexington Christian Church. Edith M Wathen
, 97, died Wednesday February 2 2005 at Scott Villa Nursing Center in Scottsburg IN. She was born March 20 1907 at Mt. Sherman KY to Edward & Julia Skaggs Johnson. She was married to Roy B Wathen, Sr. Edith was a homemaker and member of the Little York Methodist Church. Survivors: son: Roy B Wathen, Jr. (wife Peggy) of Scottsburg; daughter: Linda Bridgewater (husband Evan) of Scottsburg IN; grandchildren; Rhonda Johnson (husband Mike), Kim Johnson (husband Ron), Angela Clark (husband Steve), Ed Bridgewater; & 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, & 1 sister, Edna McCullough.

Maxwell Lester Bridgewater, 89, died Sunday, January 30 2005 at Manor Pines Nursing Home in Wilton Manors FL. Max was born in Little York on August 25 1915 to William B & Gertie Lester Bridgewater and grew up in the Little York IN area. He had previously resided in Cincinnati OH & Charlotte NC and since 1993 had resided in Pompano Beach FL. Max was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Little York Christian Church and retired as a clothier for Brooks Brothers Clothing. Survivors: sister-in-law, Mary Tonnis Bridgewater of Wisconsin along with many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, & 1 sister.
