Virl Sampson, 65, of Scottsburg Indiana died Wednesday, April 19 2006. He was born February 27 1941 in Austin Indiana to Floyd & Janie Vires Sampson. He was married to Joyce J Peacock Sampson. Virl was retired from Cummins Engine as a fork truck operator & inspector; held memberships with Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Indiana Hoosier Metal Detecting, Scott County Genealogy Society, and for 7 years a National Park Volunteer. He was also a U.S. Marine veteran of the Bay of Pigs. Survivors: wife, Joyce Sampson of Scottsburg; sons, Steven Cody Sampson & wife Tamara of Flint MI, Will Anthony Sampson & wife Tammy of Scottsburg, Travis Virl Sampson & wife Tammie of Orange Park FL; daughter, Katherine Jean Creech & husband Dallas of Scottsburg; brother, Ronald Dale Sampson & wife Gemma of Ft. Walton Beach FL; half brother, Raymond Combs of TX; half sisters, Rebecca Frances Combs of Salem IN & Zenith Coomer of Columbus IN and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 half brother & 1 brother. Visitation: 4-8pm Saturday April 22 2006 and after 11am Sunday at Stewart Funeral Home. Funeral Services: Sunday: April 23 2006 at the funeral home with Rev Jim Schell officiating and burial in Scottsburg Cemetery with military graveside services.
