Sampson, 65, of Scottsburg Indiana
died Wednesday, April 19 2006. He was born February 27 1941 in Austin Indiana to
Floyd & Janie Vires Sampson. He was married to Joyce J Peacock Sampson. Virl was
retired from Cummins Engine as a fork truck operator & inspector; held
memberships with Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Indiana Hoosier Metal
Detecting, Scott County Genealogy Society, and for 7 years a National Park
Volunteer. He was also a U.S. Marine veteran of the Bay of Pigs. Survivors:
wife, Joyce Sampson of Scottsburg; sons, Steven Cody Sampson & wife Tamara of
Flint MI, Will Anthony Sampson & wife Tammy of Scottsburg, Travis Virl Sampson & wife
Tammie of Orange Park FL; daughter, Katherine Jean Creech & husband Dallas of
Scottsburg; brother, Ronald Dale Sampson & wife Gemma of Ft. Walton Beach FL;
half brother, Raymond Combs of TX; half sisters, Rebecca Frances Combs of Salem
IN & Zenith Coomer of Columbus IN and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents, 1 half brother & 1 brother. Visitation: 4-8pm Saturday
April 22 2006 and after 11am Sunday at Stewart Funeral Home. Funeral Services:
Sunday: April 23 2006 at the funeral home with Rev Jim Schell
officiating and burial in Scottsburg Cemetery with military graveside services.

Ralph Lynn Shields, 91, of
Scottsburg Indiana died at his residence on Tuesday, April 4 2006. Ralph was
born January 13 1915 in Leota Indiana to Elmer O & Ada Owens Shields. He was
married to Helen Moody Shields and she preceded him in death on March 4 1996.
Ralph had retired as a painter after having painted for 76 years. He held
membership with First Christian Church of Scottsburg. Survivors: caregivers:
Buzzy & Janie Dobbins; cousin, James Owens, and several nieces, nephews, and

Marguerite Alexander, 97, of
Scottsburg Indiana died Friday, March 31 2006 at Scott Memorial Hospital. She
was born February 2 1909 in Scottsburg to Albert A & Florence E Craig Cox. She
was married to Murray Alexander and along with her husband, she was a former
owner of Alexander's Grocery in Scottsburg. She was a member of First Christian
Church of Scottsburg. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
and several brothers & sisters. Visitation: 4:30-8:30pm Sunday April 2
2006 and after 9am Monday at Stewart Funeral Home. Funeral
