Menta B Gladden, 81, of Scottsburg died at her residence on Saturday, November 24 2007. She was born March 18 1926 in Jackson KY to Thomas & Stella Gabbard Salyers who are deceased. Menta had lived in the Scottsburg area since the age of 16 and was the widow of Gerald Gladden. She was a former school bus driver and a homemaker and a member of Park Street Church of Christ in Charlestown and also supported  Right to Life. Survivors: son, Timothy Gladden; daughter, Janet Fields of Lexington; brother, John Salyers & wife Janet of Blocher; sister, Alberta Ritchie & husband Robert of Orlando FL; 9 grandchildren, Karla Miller & husband James, Lisa Gladden, Stephanie Shunnara & husband JR, Carlos Gladden II & wife Melissa, Jason Gladden, Mark Fields, Paige Fields, Timothy Gladden Jr., Crystal Gladden; 5 great grandchildren, Eric Gladden, Kelsey Shunnara, Kristopher Shunnara, Carlos Gladden III, Emily Gladden. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carlos Gladden, a great grandchild, Jesse Gladden, a brother, Ed Salyers and a sister, Lula Temple. Visitation: 4pm-8pm, Tuesday, November 27 2007 & after 11am Wednesday at Stewart Funeral Home. Funeral Services: 2pm, Wednesday, November 28 2007 at the funeral home with Gene Ward officiating and burial in Daniel Kimberlin Cemetery. Wilma Davis Woodard, 99, of Silver Spring Maryland and formerly of Scottsburg IN, died Saturday, November 10 2007 in Silver Spring MD. She was born August 15 1908 in Indiana to Edward & Annabelle Henry Davis. Wilma was the widow of Vascoe Cramer Woodard. She had previously been employed as a civil servant for the government. She held membership with Christ Congregational Church UCC in Silver Spring MD. Survivors: a son, Mark D Woodard of Silver Spring MD. Visitation: Tuesday in Silver Spring MD and a Memorial Service at her church on Saturday December 1 2007. Graveside Services: 1:30pm, Friday, November 16 2007 at Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg Indiana with Larry J DeWitt officiating and burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Occupation: Retired from Scott County State Bank in 1996 starting career May 24 1954 in Bookkeeping, held titles with the bank as Manager Installment Loan Department, Assistant Cashier, Cashier, Vice President & Trust Officer January 10 1967, Exec.Vice President & Trust Officer February 19 1974, Member of the Board of Directors of Scott County State Bank March 11 1976, Assist. Secretary of Board of Directors of the Scott County State Bank, Member of the Board and also served as Sec. & Treas. at Scott County Building Corp., Received title October 2 1979 of Senior Vice President of Scott County State Bank and on August 19 1988 was named President of Scott County State Bank.
