John (Jack) McQueen Christie, 71, of Scottsburg IN, died peacefully with his family at his side, Wednesday July 22 2009 at University Louisville Hospital in Louisville KY. He was born March 16 1938 in Louisville KY to Harold & Hilda Lagenaur Christie. Jack was a District Representative of Pioneer Seed Corn; General Manger of Migro Hybrids; Vice President of Agripro Seeds; Manager of Christie Farms and a lifetime farmer. He was a l956 graduate of Scottsburg High School & named "Outstanding Graduate"; served as Boys State Lieutenant Governor; & an Honors Graduate of Purdue University. Member of Zoah Christian Church; Mitchell Lion's Club; Mitchell Park Board; Past President of United States Feed Grains Council; Eagle Scouts and Order of the Arrow. Survivors: son Mike Christie & wife Carrie of Scottsburg; daughter Robin & husband Randy Snelling of Scottsburg;daughter in law Debbie Christie of Madison IN; brother Robert H & wife Darla Christie of Columbus IN; grandchildren Elizabth Christie, Haley Rose, Christie Snelling, John Michael Christie, Ryder McQueen Snelling, Cara Sue Christie; niece & nephew Pennie & Steve Barger of Louisville KY; nephew Dale Christie of Columbus IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sue Frakes Christie & a son John H Christie. Visitation: 2pm-6pm, Saturday July 25 2009 at Stewart Funeral Home with Funeral Services at 6pm Saturday at the funeral home. Philip L Stewart, 71, of Scottsburg IN, died at his residence on Monday, July 13 2009. He was born in Scottsburg on December 3 1937 to Charles Merrill & Ida Mae Woelflin Stewart who are deceased. Phil was President of L. B. Stewart & Son Funeral Home and a 4th generation Funeral Director and Embalmer of the funeral home which was established in l903. He was a member of First Christian Church of Scottsburg; a former City Councilman, a retired former chairman of the Board of the Scott County State Bank; board member of Scottsburg Cemetery Association; Past Master & member of Scottsburgh F&AM Lodge 572; Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; Murat Temple of Indianapolis; Scott County Family Moose 2324; an Eagle Scout & former Boy Scout Leader. He graduated from Scottsburg High School in l956, from Transylvania University in l960, was a member of Transylvania Athletic Hall of Fame, and graduated in l961 from Indiana College of Mortuary Science. Survivors: wife Marsha Stewart; son Philip Todd Stewart & wife Sharon; daughters Tracey Mullins & husband Tim & Erin Stewart; a granddaughter Holly Stewart; sister Jerilyn Kay Thomas & husband Rick; and Norma Stewart the mother of his children. Visitation: 4pm-8pm, Wednesday, July 15 2009 & after 9am Thursday at Stewart Funeral Home. Funeral Services: 11am Thursday at the funeral home with Larry J DeWitt officiating & burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
