James Marvin Hill, 76, a resident of Portage IN and formerly of Scottsburg IN, died January 3 2009 in Portage IN. James was born September 22 1932 in Austin IN to George W & Lottie Shields Hill, both deceased. He retired in l996 as a supervisor with U.S. Can in Burns Harbor IN after being employed 43 years. He was a U. S. Navy, Korean War veteran; a member of the Masonic Lodge & Orak Shrine Temple. Survivors: stepmother Mildred Hill of Scottsburg IN; sons James R Hill of Scottsburg IN, Wayne S Hill of Amelia LA & Todd Hill of Michigan City IN; daughter Sherry L Wright of Valparaiso IN; brother George E Hill of Scottsburg; stepbrother Robert Morris & Peggy of Dallas TX and 4 grandchildren, Brandy Williams, Amber Wright, Courtney Wright, & Brie Hill. He was also preceded in death by a son Troy S Hill & sisters Sharon Sue O'Neal & Charlotte Ann Fox. Visitation: there will be no visitation. Graveside services: 11am, Saturday, May 30 2009, Bethel Cemetery, Leota IN with burial in Bethel Cemetery, Leota IN & George Hill officiating. Masonic Graveside Services and Military Graveside Services will be held at the cemetery.

Helen Iris Hougland Reardon, 86, of Scottsburg IN, died Friday, May 1 2009 at Beehive Homes in Scottsburg. She was born October 5 1922 in Scott County IN to Ira & Mae Meranda Hougland, deceased. She was married to Robert Reardon, deceased. Helen was a homemaker and retired from the Civil Service. She was a member of First Christian Church of Scottsburg and a past member of Phi Bete Psi Sorority Theta Alpha Chapter of Scottsburg. Survivors: daughter M. Meranda Reardon; brother George Hougland & Juanita; granddaughter Phaedra Nicolaisen; great granddaughter Emaleth Nicolaisen. Shirley T Turner, 74, of Austin IN, died Thursday, April 30 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville KY. She was born January 12 1935 in Owsley County KY to J. W. & Della Bowles Whicker who are deceased.She was married to Lonnie K Turner who also preceded her in death. Shirley was retired from the Scott County School District 1 at Austin as an administrative assistant to Supt. Chandler. She was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church.
